Overview of the whippet breed
Breed history The Whippet was first
recognized as a registerable breed in England in 1891, when it was
recognized by the Kennel Club of England. The Whippet was originally
bred for hunting. General Aspect
The Whippet looks like a miniature Greyhound. He is a medium size
sight hound giving the appearance of elegance and fitness, denoting
great speed, power and balance without coarseness. He is the fastest
breed in the world been timed at 36.5 mph for a short distance.
He is a gentle, affectionate and adaptable, a splendid watch dog, a delightful companion or a great jogging partner. He is one of the friendliest of the sight hounds. A very intelligent dog that is easy to train. Medium size dog, short coat and easy to care for.

The Whippet is placid in nature and makes a great family pet, including children and animals. A very clean dog. Strenght and grace describe well the whippet. |

Activities Great adaptiveness to the city as well as the country or
to an apartment. It is calm and discreet. It never barks for nothing.
Easy going, good character, an ideal family companion. The whippet needs to use its energy every
day even if its for a short time. A good walk is always welcome. A run
in the park or in the country is well appreciated. Play ball could also
be a good exercise.
Special activities With our friends from the Société Canine de Québec, our whippets are part of a prevention program for kids in school showing them how to act with an unknown dog in order to prevent accidents.
